An Abundant Legacy

Romans 8:28 (NLT)  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

I recently came across this statement by Stu Weber in his book, Infinite Impact:  Your life is not about you.  Live larger.

The abundant life mentioned in the Bible is not only about living a fruitful and fulfilling life here and now.  The abundant life is a large life for us personally, but also includes the lives of those here and in the future who are affected by ours.  What we learn about God, about life, about how those two intersect, should be part of our legacy.

My husband and I are taking a journey which has involved roads I never imagined I would travel, living with a family member who has a mental illness.  But I cannot forget the scriptural lesson in Romans 8:28 which tells me that nothing in my life is wasted when I trust God to use it for a larger purpose than just my own comfort.  My hope is to share what I have learned about not just surviving through the challenges of dealing with mental illness, but thriving in body and spirit despite those challenges.

We are Christ-followers.  Some people abandon their faith when they come up against things so devastating to their plans and dreams.  But I am not abandoning my faith.  Instead, I have chosen to do two things:  I have pulled in even closer to God and to the Christians he has placed around me, and I have determined to educate myself about mental illness.  Thereby I hope to not only weather the storms of this life, but also to leave a legacy of hope and faith for whoever reads this blog.

Come along with me, and we will travel the passages that lead us into a deeper relationship with God.

I loved being reminded that my life is bigger than my own plans and comfort but is about so many others around me! Thanks for sharing!
